A tip on English/History controlled assessments

If your doing an English/History controlled assessment and are given a note sheet but your always finding yourself running out of time and forgetting to write your ideas, then this is a good way of not having to remember what to write. (For Edexcel History and AQA English, I'm not sure if the other exam boards let you take in a note sheet in the controlled assessment)

1) Plan your essay before hand and write exactly what your going to write on the day of the assessment

2) Split your note sheet into boxes depending on how many paragraphs you will write about e.g 5 boxes for 5 paragraphs (Remember quality over quantity!) BUT draw the lines in pencil.

3) Minimize your handwriting (as small as possible) and remember write out your essay in NOTE form. If full sentences used in your note sheet are found in your essay you will loose marks.

4) Writing in code saves space. E.g  + for and, @ for at.

Additionally to that I used my own.

>   = was
 _  = the
*   = it
-    = to

So instead of writing "...the poet used metaphors to show that it was ... "
I would write "... _ poet used metaphors - show that * > ..."

That might be confusing (its suppose to be ) but once you know it and make your own to suite you, you'll be able to use it like *clicks fingers*
